Summer seems to have finally arrived. The kids are out of school, the beaches are open and it is starting to get hotter than hell in my apartment - could this be the year I buy an air conditioner? Oh, and of course I can't forget the lovely sounds of the jack hammers pounding the streets into submission. The fixing of streets is upon us and so the speed bumps have increased two-fold. While I have no problem dodging the occassional pothole and try to test my shocks to their fullest extent when coming across a bump - in my Nissan Sentra I should add - why is it the people in the $30K + SUV come to a complete halt and gingerly drive across the bumps in the road. While yes said person spent ungodly sums of money to purchase as well as keep gas in their vehicle aren't they made for the bumps and crappy roads? I have never put an SUV through it's paces because I've never owned one although at times I have treated my car as such, so I don't know if they can do what I see on tv. I can in all honesty, say that a Hummer and I'm talking about the straight up military grade 1/4 ton without leather seats and air conditioning or an ignition key for that matter not those pansy, unsightly H2s, are truly amazing things to drive, potholes, speed bumps, 60 degree inclines are nothing to this beast - that is my idea of an SUV of course I live in the city so there is no need for one but if I lived up in the mountains or some remote part of Canada or Alaska you bet your that I would have one, well if I could afford to have one - I did find one on Ebay once so who knows. Anyway that's my two cents on SUVs and their owners, what's the point of having one if you can't and don't USE it.
